Dante Delgado Undergoes Cancer Treatment and Party Leadership Changes

The leader of Movimiento Ciudadano, Dante Delgado, revealed during the 4th State Convention of the party in Veracruz that he has been diagnosed with stomach cancer. He thanked the medical team at Médica Sur Hospital for the care received and acknowledged the work of doctors Carlos Chan Núñez and Alejandro Alfaro.

Delgado has been undergoing chemotherapy after doctors recommended this treatment following a clinical analysis. Although he did not specify when he was diagnosed with the disease, last August he reported that he was undergoing preventive medical check-ups due to family history of cancer.

On December 5th in Mexico City, the election for the new leader of Movimiento Ciudadano will take place, where presidential candidate Jorge Álvarez Máynez is considered one of the strongest. The National Commission of Conventions and Internal Processes will organize and oversee the election procedure.

Regarding possible successors to Dante Delgado, the governor of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, who was thought to be a candidate, expressed his desire to retire from politics once his term ends in December. The pre-registration of candidates for positions in the national governing and control bodies of Movimiento Ciudadano will be registered with the corresponding Commission.

Delgado thanked all the medical and nursing staff for their professional and humane care, highlighting the importance of preventive medical check-ups. It is expected that the leader of the orange party will choose his successor at a crucial time for the organization.
